Councillor Peter Groves – Conservative, Nantwich South Ward
Peter Groves has been selected as a Conservative Candidate for the Nantwich South and Stapeley Ward for the forthcoming Cheshire East Council Elections in May 2027.
Peter is a long serving Councillor, who represented the Nantwich South and Stapeley Ward as a Borough Councillor from 2011 until 2023 and has been a Nantwich Town Councillor since 2015.
Over the years he has played an active role in supporting local communities, championing improvements to the public services and promoting the interests of Nantwich and its surrounding areas.
Peter served as the Mayor of Nantwich for 2022-2023, a role he described as both a privilege and an honour. During Peter’s Mayoral Year he attended more than 70 events and raised significant sums for the local charities, including the Nantwich Food Bank
Throughout his public service, Peter has always been a strong advocate for residents, particularly on issues such as flooding, community infrastructure, campaigning against unwanted development and Planning, Public car parking, school crossings, bus services etc.
Hie is well known for his hands on approach, working closely with residents and has taken a particular interest in the Town, working hard, to address local concerns and issues across Nantwich and Stapeley. He is a Trustee of the Nantwich Museum, since 2014, a former school Governor and a member of Nantwich Partnership and also the Nantwich Civic Society.
As well as his Council responsibilities, Peter has been actively involved with the local community, reflecting his longstanding commitment to making Nantwich a vibrant, welcoming and safe place to live, work and also visit. He continues to serve the Town with enthusiasm, integrity and a very strong belief in community engagement.
