Councillor Roger Morris – Conservative, Crewe Central Ward

Roger Morris is not a career politician. He's a Crewe man through and through, a fourth-generation businessman whose family has run Crewe Motorcycle Centre on West Street since 1920, over 104 years in the same premises, in the heart of the community he now serves as councillor.

After more than 35 years working in that family business, Roger knows Crewe Central not as lines on a map but as streets, neighbours and livelihoods. He understands what the town used to be, he has watched the changes unfold, and he is determined to help reverse its decline.

When the Covid pandemic struck, Roger didn't wait to be asked. He handed over his motorcycle showroom to the NHS free of charge, transforming it into one of the region's busiest vaccination centres, delivering hundreds of thousands of jabs to local residents. The story spread far beyond Crewe, featuring on Good Morning Britain and even 9News Australia. It summed up everything Roger stands for: don't talk about it, just do it.

That same instinct drove him into politics. In February 2024 he stood for election in Crewe Central, a ward Labour had held for decades, and won, stunning the local establishment by taking 335 votes to Labour's 277. Since his election he has served on Cheshire East Council's Southern Planning Committee, using that role to push back against overdevelopment and poor-quality schemes that fail residents. When a proposed HMO conversion threatened to overdevelop a local street, Roger and his team challenged it on planning policy grounds and got it refused.

Away from the council chamber, Roger has organised community clean-up days, tackled fly-tipping, reported potholes and pushed for better street lighting, the unglamorous but essential work that makes a real difference to everyday life.

Roger holds professional qualifications as a CAE (Certificated Automotive Executive) and MIMI (Member of the Institute of the Motor Industry), reflecting a career built on expertise, responsibility and commitment to his trade. He is also a kit sponsor for Crewe Town FC, another quiet signal of a man who invests in his community without fanfare.

Now selected as the Conservative candidate for Wistaston and Willaston at the next election, Roger brings to that ward the same qualities that have defined his time in Crewe Central: a proven track record, deep local roots and an unswerving commitment to putting residents first. For Roger, public service has never been about politics, it's about people.
